How Orcas Island got it's name.
Some say Orcas Island got its name from the Viceroy of Mexico; Don Juan Vicente de Guemes Pacheco de Padilla Orcasitas y Aguayo Conde de Revilla Gigedo. He claimed these islands for Spain in 1790. Some say Orcas Island was named after the nickname of one of Lt. Eliza's 1791 survey ships "Boca de Orcasitas".

When you purchase your WSF ticket you are paying for a round trip ticket. On your way back to Anacortes (eastbound ) you can get off and visit any island for as long as you want. As long as you are going Eastbound there is no charge to get on and off the Ferry.
